Tony Mowbray on the difficulties of the loan market

By igorbalis

As you may know by now West Brom are only able to do business in the transfer market with loan signings, unless they find some new cash down the sofa.

In an interview on the Birmingham Mail website, Mowbray discusses the loan market process and how its proving difficult to get the players from overseas. The report also states that West Brom have enquired about signing Benfica’s Ariza Makukula, Lens’ Aruna Dindane and Paris St Germain’s Peguy Luyindula on loan. Makukula is a new one, the other two have been linked for a while now.

Mowbray goes onto to say,

“We are talking to numerous clubs, exploring potential avenues.

“It’s quite black and white. If we ask a question they ask for assurances or a lot of money and then we move on because we’re not interested in that option.

“Clubs don’t generally give you good players for nothing, they generally want loan fees or assurances of some sort. Some clubs make things like this public.

“Same with Makakula. As for Dindane – there are no more updates. He’s not played for nine months and he’s too big a risk for us but he’s a player of proven quality.”

You can read the full report here, but it seems like its going to be a battle to bring a foreign player in on loan, we only have one more loan we can bring in from another English club after signing Jay Simpson last week.

One player who has impressed me is striker Danny Welbeck at Manchester United, he’s looked a handful whenever i’ve seen him play, but being only 18 I think Mowbray will be looking for a more experienced player.
